# Memory

> Let Wirebase remember lasting facts about you and use them in future chats.

## Overview

With memory on, Wirebase can remember facts about you, like your name, role and preferences, and use them in later chats so you don't repeat yourself.

* Memories are private to you, and separate for each organization you belong to.
* Memory never stores secrets. Anything that looks like a password, key or card number is refused.
* You can keep up to 100 memories per organization.

## How memories are saved

* **In chat**: ask the assistant to remember something ("Remember that I prefer TypeScript examples"). It can also save a fact you mention when it's clearly useful later. You'll see **Memory updated** in the conversation, with **Undo**.
* **By hand**: go to **Settings → Memory** and use **Add a memory**.

To make the assistant forget something, ask it in chat, or delete the memory in settings.

## Manage memories

Open **Settings → Memory** to:

* See every saved memory and where it came from (**Saved in chat** or **Added by you**).
* Delete individual memories, or **Clear all**.
* Turn **Use and save memories** off. When off, chats neither read nor save memories; existing memories are kept until you delete them.

<Note>
  Memory is available once you are part of an organization.
