# Mentions

> Type @ to call an agent, workflow, connector, tool or knowledge base by name.

## Overview

Type `@` in the message box to open the mention menu. Mentions tell the assistant exactly what to use for this message, instead of leaving it to decide.

| Mention | What happens |
| - | - |
| **Agents** | The agent answers, with its own instructions and tools. |
| **Workflows** | The assistant runs the published workflow as a tool, filling in its inputs from your message. |
| **Connector Tools** | The assistant uses a connector (all its tools) or one specific tool. |
| **Knowledge Bases** | The assistant searches that knowledge base and cites what it finds. |
| Built-in tools | Web search, charts, code execution and the other built-in tools. |

## How to use mentions

1. Type `@` and start typing a name to filter the list.
2. Use the arrow keys and <kbd>Enter</kbd>, or click, to pick an item. It appears as a chip in your message.
3. Add as many mentions as you need, then write your request and send.

```text Example theme={null}
@research-agent compare the pricing pages of our top three competitors
and put the results in a table
```

<Tip>
  Mentions work in every tool mode, even **None**. Only the mentioned tools are sent to the model, which keeps answers focused and saves tokens.
</Tip>

## What you can mention

You can mention anything you own plus anything shared with your organization: org agents and workflows set to **Public** or **Read Only**, connectors shared with the organization, and shared knowledge bases. Workflows must be **published** to appear.
