Tool modes
The tool mode decides how freely the assistant uses tools. Switch it from the tool menu next to the message box, or press ⌘ P (Ctrl P).Choose which tools are available

Searches the web and reads pages, so answers can include current information with links. Your admin must turn on Web Search and add a search provider key. See Chat features. Use Search Options to pass options like the number of results.

Draws bar, line and pie charts, and interactive tables, directly in the conversation.
Code Execution

Runs JavaScript or Python to calculate, transform data or plot. Python runs in your browser with Pyodide; it can fetch files over HTTP when the server allows it (CORS). Your admin can turn code execution off.

Connector tools
Connectors add tools from outside services, such as creating a GitHub issue or querying a Notion database. Connectors you add, and connectors shared with your organization, appear in the tool menu and the@ menu. See Connectors.
See what a tool did
Each tool call appears in the conversation with its request and response. Choose the default detail level in Settings → Chat display:- Compact: header only. Click a call to see its request and response.
- Expanded: request and response as a readable tree.
- Debug: the raw payload, exactly what the tool sent and returned.
